Travel eSIM
eSIM for a holiday with children
Every phone in the family is a separate decision: a hotspot from a parent’s phone or a small plan of the child’s own.
The biggest roaming bills come from children’s phones: a game updates in the background, TikTok plays non-stop, and nobody turned off data roaming on the child’s SIM. Before you leave, turn off data roaming on every Polish SIM in the family, and give them data from an eSIM.
One eSIM or several
- A hotspot from a parent’s phone is enough when the children use the internet next to you: in a restaurant, on the coach, on the beach. One bigger plan, 5–10 GB, with the parent’s phone as the router. The downside: the parent’s battery, and a child away from the parent has no internet.
- A child’s own eSIM makes sense for a teenager who goes around town alone. A small plan, 1–3 GB, on their phone; the phone must support eSIM, which you can check with the code *#06#.
- A tablet with eSIM can be set up with one too; tablets without eSIM use the hotspot.
How much data
| Family | How much to take | For what |
|---|---|---|
| Two adults, young children | 3–5 GB on one phone with a hotspot | maps, messaging, photos, a cartoon on the way |
| Teenagers with phones | 3 GB on each phone | messaging, photos, social media |
| Two weeks, films in the evening | 10 GB or more | streaming away from the hotel Wi-Fi |
Before you fly
- 1.On every phone in the family, turn off data roaming on the Polish SIM.
- 2.Install the eSIM on the phones that are getting one, at home over Wi-Fi: the guide.
- 3.Agree with the children that they watch films on the hotel Wi-Fi, not on the plan.
Where to
Spain and the rest of the EU don’t need an eSIM (your Polish SIM works as it does at home), but Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, the Dominican Republic and Thailand do.

- Can I share data from the eSIM (hotspot)? With most plans, yes, as with any SIM; the usage comes out of the plan. If the hotspot is essential for you, write to us before you buy.
- Will one eSIM work on two phones? No. The profile installs on one phone and can’t be moved. For a second phone, buy a second plan.
- Does my phone support eSIM?Dial *#06# on the keypad: if you see an EID line, your phone supports eSIM. It must not be locked to a network.
