Do I have to take out my SIM card?
No. The eSIM works alongside your main SIM: that one takes your calls and texts, and your data abroad goes through the eSIM.
No. You install the eSIM as a second line on the same phone. Your main SIM card stays where it is and receives calls and texts to your number, including codes from your bank, while you use the eSIM for data on your trip.
In the settings you choose which line is used for mobile data; after landing you switch it to the eSIM. Leave data roaming off on your main SIM, and your operator will charge you nothing for data.
The exception is iPhones sold in the USA from the 14 onwards, which have no slot for a plastic card at all; such models are rare in Poland.
