Step by step
How to install an eSIM on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO
Installing an eSIM on a Xiaomi with HyperOS step by step: turning on eSIM, the QR code or adding it manually, the data SIM and roaming after landing. Redmi and POCO run the same system.
What you need
- Xiaomi 12T, 13, 14, 15 and newer, some Redmi Note and POCO models sold in Europe; models for the Chinese market often have no eSIM.
- Dial *#06# on your phone’s keypad: if the screen shows an EID line, the phone supports eSIM.
- The phone must not be locked to a network (SIM lock).
- An internet connection while you install, ideally Wi-Fi at home.
Installing from a QR code
When you have a second screen to show the code on: a computer, a tablet or another phone.
- 1
Open the QR code on another screen
Show the QR code from your account on a computer, a tablet or a second phone.
- 2
Turn on eSIM and scan the code
Turn on “Use eSIM” and tap “OK”. Open “Manage eSIM”, tap “Add eSIM” and point the camera at the code. The menu names differ a little between HyperOS versions; look for the word eSIM.

Installing with an activation code
When you install on the same phone you’re reading the code on: there’s nothing to scan.
- 1
Copy the activation code in your account
Next to your eSIM, tap “Copy code”. It is one line starting with LPA:1$; copy it in full.
- 2
Add the eSIM manually
Turn on “Use eSIM”, open “Manage eSIM” and tap “Add eSIM”. Below the scanner, choose “Add manually”, paste the code and confirm.

When something doesn’t work
- I can’t see “Use eSIM”
- This model doesn’t support eSIM or is a version for the Chinese market. Check for the EID line after dialling *#06#.
- No data after landing
- Check “Data SIM” and that international roaming is set to “Always”. Turn aeroplane mode on and off.
- The phone asks for an APN
- Write to us and we’ll give you the right value for your plan.
